Mr Richard Wain qualified from the University of Manchester in 2006 and finalised his surgical training across the UK in the Northwest. The Plastic Surgeon Expert Witness must assess the claimants’ injuries, determine causation, establish a prognosis. It is their duty to explain complex medical information to legal professionals such as Solicitors and Juries. Their role involves preparing detailed Plastic Surgeon CPR Medico-reports reports, examining evidence, and potentially providing testimony in Court if required. A Plastic Surgeon Expert Witness should always remain independent and remaining within their area of expertise.
Responsibilities – Plastic Surgery Expert Witness
- Conduct Medico-legal examinations, performing medical examinations on the claimant to assess injuries sustained
- Stay within plastic surgery expertise, providing opinions on matters that fall within their specialized area as a Plastic Surgeon
- Collaborate with legal teams, including Solicitors and Barristers to guide and assist them in understanding the medical aspects of injuries and the case
- Provide testimony in Court if called upon and to be prepared to appear in Court to provide evidence, explain their expert opinion and potentially to be cross-examined. Follow an evidence-based approach, basing opinions on approved medical practice and scientific evidence
